Corfu

Corfu is located in the Ionian Island group in Greece. Corfu is the northern most island in Greece, found on the west coast. It was also one of the first Greek islands to be hit with the mass of tourism that found its way to Greece in the 1960’s. Corfu’s capital is Kerkira. It is built on a promontory that projects into the sea and is separated into two sections.

Just east from the northern section, you will find the Old Fortress, which is cut off from the town by an ancient moat. Kerkyra features long stretches of open beaches, some unspoiled by tourism. Corfu also features a very lively nightlife and the villages on the island still possess much traditional culture and heritage.
