Switserland > Travel tips Switzerland.

No other country in Europe is perhaps as popular as Switzerland, in the itinerary of the global guest. Snow capped mountains, huge waterfalls and an enchanting countryside, one will find all of this and much more while visiting this country during the tours of Tourist attractions in Europe.

Graubünden, Switzerland's biggest holiday region, has 1,800 km of piste, the same distance of cross-country trails and 60 toboggan runs. The 45 holiday resorts have specialised in different ways to suit their guests’ needs, and range from buzzing nightlife centres to charming family idylls. In all of them, a cuisine created with love and care satisfies the heartiest appetitesIn Switzerland 1,800 km of piste are promising the ultimate freedom. Hop on another lift, tackle another slope – and keep going until your stomach rumbles. Graubünden is as famous for its mountain huts and sunny terraces as for legendary specialities such as the air-dried meats Salsiz and Bündnerfleisch.

Arosa enjoys a wonderful location: at the far end of the Schanfigg valley, at an altitude of 1,800 m, with no through traffic. Arosa’s mountain huts are legendary: with sunloungers to relax on, DJs creating a chilled atmosphere, and mouth-watering delicacies fresh from the kitchen. You can reach them on foot as well as on skis.

Aletsch is one of the most beautiful touring areas in the Alps. The finest panoramic route follows the ridge of the Hohfluh, at the edge of the Aletsch glacier – with sweeping views of the majestic 4,000-m alpine peaks. Disentis Sedrun is a paradise for touring skiers, for freeriders and for all off-piste fans. Along with fresh air, there is an abundance of deep powder – as much as you could wish for, as far as the eye can see. It is a legend among black ski runs: the Hahnensee descent up on Corvatsch, between Giand’Alva and St. Moritz-Bad. The steep slopes are breathtaking, and a descent is guaranteed to get the endorphins flowing.

Powered by the Maloja wind, skiers and snowboarders glide over frozen Lake Silvaplana behind colourful kites. The area is known as the birthplace of snowkiting; beginners can learn the ropes at a dedicated school.

In winter the famous Severiano Ballesteros 18-hole golf course is transformed into a snowy playground for children and their parents, with snowtubing, a zip-wire, snowshoe trails, cross-country routes and winter walking paths.

Sion Region
Boasting 600 km of piste ranging from easy to extremely challenging, the Sion Region in the heart of the Alps is a mecca for skiers and snowboarders. Some 100 lifts carry guests up to the very peaks of snowsports pleasure – and as high as 3,300 m, to a panorama of superlatives. And throughout the area lie enchanting landscapes, thrilling toboggan runs, idyllic snowshoe tours, 110 km of cross-country ski trails and numerous artificial ice rinks.

Lake Geneva
In the Lake Geneva Region, everything revolves around nature – and everyone benefits. Amidst the year-round snows on Glacier 3000, freeriders enjoy a sense of liberty – but so too do hikers and day-trippers. Unspoilt mountain villages are home to living traditions; the vast pla eaux of the Jura offer endless cross-country ski trails. From its giant half-pipes and gentle family pistes to bright hot-air balloons high in the sky, the Lake Geneva Region has something to suit every taste.
The sky over Château-d’Oex is often bursting with colour, for this resort is known as the world capital of hot-air ballooning. And the brightest time of all is the International Balloon Festival in January.
